Over 300 Web sites were defaced around the world within 5 days.  Taiwan takes 70% attacks

Government"s Web sites, and Web sites of the private sector companies in Taiwan were defaced in the first week of April 2006, as reported by the ¡°Epoch Times¡±.  As the data indicates Taiwan has become a selected target by the hacker community.

 

International hacker groups have orchestrated attacks to over 300 Web sites around the World. And 200 of these Web sites reside in the Taiwan, that is about 70% share. 

 

These attacks focused on the Linux Operating System. About 95% of these Web sites are running the Linux Operating System, a noticeable difference, since in most typical cases over half of the Web sites defacements run on the Windows Operating System.

 

Government officials in Taiwan said that there are about 500 to 1,000 Web sites being defaced each month based on their statistics.
